Congratulations on being accepted to college! Youre in for what will probably be the best years of your life. Do you already have a major selected? If not, dont worry, as you still have time to choose one. The following article contains some tips that can help you with your choice.

Take as many credits as you can handle at one time. Most universities charge you per credit, but only up to twelve credits. After that the rests of the credits in that semester are free. Taking eighteen credits per semester will leave you paying one-third less than your peers for the same education.

One of the smartest things that you can do as you enter college is to map out the exact route of your schedule before the first of class. This will give you a great idea of where you need to be at what time, and also will reduce the frequency that you get lost.

Take advantage of activities and facilities available on your colleges campus. Many campuses offer a variety of free and inexpensive events for students, from concerts to movie showings. They also have fitness centers, pools, and other recreational facilities. You can also join clubs or groups centered around your hobbies, religion, and more.

A credit card is often necessary, particularly if you are going to school far away from home. However, be smart about your decision. Research your options and select a card that has a low interest rate. Also, make sure there arent any annuals fees and dont be tempted by high credit limits. Those are just a recipe for disaster.

Buy used textbooks. The cost of textbooks can be outrageous. Money is tight when most students are in college, so you need to cut expenses wherever you can. Try to find booksellers and websites that feature used texts. Buying used will save you a lot of money.

In your first year of college, one of the things that you will want to avoid is a relationship. A relationship can be very difficult when your main goal is to get acquainted with an area and to meet new people. Save this for the later years that you are in college.

Exercise

Get up early every day. Rising at 7 AM, or so will give you ample time for waking up, having breakfast and some additional study time. It is good to have a relaxed morning routine before classes each day.

If you are in class and find yourself bored out of your mind, do yourself a favor and stay until it ends. Often times college kids exercise their right to leave whenever they want but you never know when you will miss some truly important information. So make sure to attend every class in its entirety.

Get serious about exercise. Exercise is something that many students dont get enough of. Because weight gain is so normal in college freshmen especially, you have to make the time to get a small workout in so you can stay slim and fit. Think about jogging or using the campus pool to do your workouts.

Nutrition

Every freshman should understand and realize that the freshman 15 does in fact exist. It is important that everyone take the necessary steps to ensure that they are getting proper nutrition during their first year in college. While it might be tempting to pile on some fries for dinner every night, youll pay for it in the long run.

So, now that youve read this article, do you have a major selected? If so, then good for you. If not, just remember that you can continue to review the tips listed above to help you in your major choice. The choice is up to you, so make it a wise one.
